Federal and State Department Mission
This mission of the Federal and State Department is to provide equitable services to all students residing in the Montebello Unified School District. We provide support to students, staff, parents, and community in training, monitoring, and technical assistance to ensure that state and federal programs are aligned to district initiatives with a focus on improving academic achievement for all students.
Schoolwide Program
Montebello Unified School District schools operate schoolwide programs. The purpose of a Schoolwide Program (SWP) is to improve academic achievement throughout a school so that all students, particularly the lowest-achieving students, demonstrate proficiency on the State’s academic standards. To learn more about the Schoolwide program at your school, please attend your school's School Site Council meetings.
Improving Teacher Quality
Montebello Unified School District strives to improve teacher quality. Montebello Teacher Induction Program (MTIP) focuses on providing a high quality induction and mentorship program designed to improve classroom instruction and student learning. We also promote professional development in support of professional growth and equitable access to quality educators.
English Learner Programs and Support
Montebello Unified School District serves students who are learning English and learning academic content at the same time by providing English Language Development on a daily basis, as well as providing classroom content access and support throughout the day. Teachers are trained on the special methods needed to support English Learners, so that all of our EL’s will be successful academically and with their acquisition of English. Student Support and Academic Enrichment
Montebello Unified School District continuously re-evaluates how equitably the district supports students' Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our goals are to provide all students with access to a well-rounded education while improving school conditions for student learning. We also promote the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.
